Warm Weather Wovenwear (Prerecorded Livestream)

Overview

In this 2 1/2 hour class, we’ll be working with mixed media to recreate these highly textured warm weather accessory cookies.  Among the techniques being taught are:

• The perfect royal icing consistency for piping detailed textures
• Piping three different woven textures
• Using contrast to increase visual interest
• Simple painting techniques for added depth and contrast
• Handmade fondant bows
• Creating 3D finishing touches that pop

Supply List

A more in-depth overview of icing consistencies will be provided in our Facebook group prior to class.  We carry some of these products in our shop, but they can easily be found in most craft and baking supply stores.

• Royal icing
• Fondant
• White or ivory nonpareils (2mm)
• Scribe tool / toothpick
• Tipless piping bags
• Small, sharp scissors for cutting tipless bags (craft or embroidery scissors work well)
• Detail paintbrush and blending brush (we carry a variety in our shop)
• Brown gel or powdered food coloring
• Clear alcohol for diluting color (I prefer vodka)
• Paint palette or small cup/plate for mixing color
